Science and Wonder with William — The Art of Asking: Science as a Way of Thinking
Friday, April 24th | The Linden | 3:00 PM
William Weightman is a science educator and creator of Science and Wonder with William, a program that sparks curiosity through hands-on learning. With a background in IT and a passion for community engagement, he brings warmth, clarity, and a deep respect for lifelong learning in science to every session.
Science isn’t just a list of facts in a textbook; it is a way of seeing the world with a healthy dose of clarity, courage, and curiosity. Join us for "The Art of Asking," where we explore the history of the scientific method—the simple, powerful tool humanity designed to separate shadow from substance.
In this session, we will:
- Trace the Journey: From the first inquisitive minds to the rigorous testing scientists use today to solve the world's greatest mysteries.
- Build a "Bamboozle Shield": Discuss how we can use scientific thinking in our daily lives to evaluate information and stay grounded in what is true.
- The Living Experiment: We’ll work together to observe a mystery, form a "hunch" (hypothesis), and test it together.
- Science for Everyone: Discover a new citizen scientist where your unique observations can help real-world scientists gather data.
Come as you are. Leave with wonder.
