news whos eventide

If you’ve seen the signs going up or you’ve heard the talk on the street, you’re probably wondering what’s happened to your beloved senior care community.

Not as much as you might think.

Yes, Tabitha is now Eventide, and a change like that can cause some ripples in a community as close as ours. But you should know that the people you’ve always counted on are still there, providing the same care Tabitha has provided for 140 years.

It’s just that now, there are more ways to expand and improve that care. Together, there are greater resources and capabilities to improve efficiency and strengthen financial systems without sacrificing care or quality—because every investment now serves one organization, not two.

“This has always been about taking care of the people we serve,” says Eventide CEO Jon Riewer. “And we now have 2,000 employees looking after 2,000 residents across Minnesota, North Dakota, and Nebraska. It’s hard to find that kind of personal attention, let alone that level of compassion.”

Our values aren’t changing, either.

For the last 18 months or so, Eventide and Tabitha have been building a relationship based on shared ideals and common values. Like compassion and kindness. Like integrity and respect. Like faith and family and a philosophy that just might surprise you:

At Eventide, joy doesn’t have an age limit.

The fun doesn’t have to stop at 60. Or 70, or 80, or any age. Happiness doesn’t go away just because you’ve had another birthday. The things you’ve always enjoyed can still be enjoyed—especially because you have more time to enjoy them.

It’s a new way to look at getting older, and as one family of senior care communities and services, Eventide is bringing that perspective to life. To thousands of lives, actually.

Dayna Swenseth, Eventide’s Vice President of Operations in Nebraska, and Tabitha employee for nine years, echoes that joy.

“Often, this sentiment gets lost as we age—or as our parents do. Some people may think that when it’s time to move into a senior living community, the fun and joy are over, right? Not here. We are one culture with one mission, one vision, one set of values. And Tabitha is alive and well within that. We’ve combined the strengths of two great non-profits without losing the spirit of either.”

“When you think about it,” adds Riewer, “one of the biggest changes in all this lies in what future residents and their families think about getting older. It’s about shifting their ages-old perceptions of ‘nursing homes’. We aren’t a nursing home. We’re home. And there’s a lot of joy in that.”
