Dear Families and Friends,
This week is National Skilled Nursing Care Week and I can’t think of a more important time to thank our #EventideHeroes. I am appreciative to all of our Eventide employees for taking on unprecedented challenges while continuing to provide quality care to our residents. If you have the opportunity, I encourage you to thank a caregiver this week.
I am pleased to announce that we will be doing widespread testing in Moorhead this week. Testing will be conducted at Eventide on Eighth care center, The Linden senior living apartments and Eventide The Fairmont on Wednesday and Thursday and we hope to receive results by the beginning of next week. If you have read my previous updates, you know that we’ve been asking for widespread testing at these locations since we were first notified of a positive case. It has been frustrating to wait for these tests as we have felt we cannot get a clear picture of what we are dealing with without knowing who is positive and who is not. Thank you to Mayor Johnathan Judd of Moorhead for his partnership and persistence in advocating for Eventide. I would also like to thank Senator Kent Eken; Representative Ben Lien; Kathy McKay, Clay County Public Health Administrator; Shawn Stoen, West Central Regional Healthcare Readiness and Response Coordinator; and the Red River Task Force for their efforts in making this happen.
Families have asked why we did not do campus wide testing sooner. Please know that we have been asking the same question for the past three weeks. We have been pressuring the state of Minnesota to do widespread testing since we were notified of our first confirmed case. From what we have experienced at our Eventide Fargo care center, we know that widespread testing and retesting has allowed us to contain the virus and find success in managing it.
Since our last update, we have been notified of a staff person at our Eventide Jamestown care center who has tested positive. We are working with the North Dakota Department of Health to ensure we are taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of the virus in our facility and continue to follow our enhanced infection prevention plan that we activated in early March.
